Style Tips for the Nursing Momma

Hi PinkBlush friends! I’m Lisa, mother of two little girls, Maven (2) and Sylvie (7 months). You can find me utilizing my passions and talents over at In Wild Hearts where I share all things related to motherhood, health, hospitality and style. I love, love, love sharing my experiences with others and so I’m excited to share some of my style tips to all you nursing mommas {or soon-to-be nursing mommas} out there!

Let’s face it. By this point, you have transitioned your wardrobe from hiding an early pregnancy to embracing your growing bump to featuring your beautiful bump to finding anything that fits, all the while trying to simultaneously focus on comfort and style. You think you’re in the clear once your little bundle of joy arrives, but wait! You’re now a nursing mother. You now need comfort, style and easy access.

Cue, In Wild Heart’s go-to wardrobe items for the nursing momma. These three tips have helped me re-organize my closet and provided ease of outfit selection even on my most demanding of days. These may seem simple, but you’d be surprised at how many items you go to grab in your closet that just.won’t.work. how you used to wear them.

TIP #1: Two piece outfits.

This may seem simple, but you’ll remember me when you go to grab that cute dress or romper in your closet and realize that it isn’t entirely feasible to wear. Think of this tip as always having a top and a bottom: a tank and jeans, a t-shirt and skirt or a summer sweater with shorts. While in these outfits, mommas can then easily lift their top layer without having to entirely undress to nurse (or pump!), a huge benefit while out-and-about or even just pumping on a break at work.

TIP #2: Dresses that fit loosely on top, preferably with long straps and stretchy fabric.

I wasn’t able to completely turn my wardrobe over into two-piece ensembles. And even if I could, I would likely get tired of wearing the same old, same old day after day. I do like to wear a lot of dresses. They are simple, easy, comfortable and make me feel put together even on days when I have zero time to get ready. Dresses, however, have their challenges; They aren’t all designed with the nursing mother in mind (high necklines, button or zipper up the back, etc.). I now seek out dresses that fit loosely on top, have long straps and/or stretchy fabric, so that pulling down for nursing access does not ruin the integrity of the dress. {You wouldn’t want to look like you had a stretched out neck on the top hemline!}

TIP #3: Camisoles.

Wearing camisoles under all of my shirts has been a comfort and a lifesaver to me. As I am always on-the-go, I’m often nursing in not-super-private locations, therefore I want to be protected and not allow for any indecent exposure! By having a camisole under my tops, I’m able to lift for baby access and have my body remain covered. I never feel as though I may expose my body to others in public. Camisoles are most often made of a giving materials, so stretching down has not ruined any of these in my experience. PinkBlush has some great cami options. The investment for this wardrobe staple is small in exchange for the return of comfort and protection!

That’s it! That’s all! It’s simple. And PinkBlush maternity clothing and women’s clothing makes it SO easy and affordable to select stylish post-partum options, or even just transition your maternity wear into the next chapter of your life. You’ll feel beautiful all the while being practical. The best of both worlds!

These days it’s so important for me to select clothing that can handle keeping up with my toddler while carrying or baby-wearing my littlest and have the ability to nurse on the fly. {Literally, anywhere we may be!} While I’ve invested in a good nursing cover, I always feel more confident and comfortable when I’m wearing the right pieces in my wardrobe. I’ve found I don’t have to sacrifice style, just tweak my wardrobe a little, to fit my nursing-mom life. Thanks PinkBlush trendy maternity clothes for making that easy to do! And special thanks to RJ Imagery for the lovely talent and beautiful photographs!

Not Your Mom’s Maternity Clothes!

For most, the word maternity could be less than appealing. We’re stuck in a world where maternity clothes were made with ruched sides and A-Line (mumu) silhouettes. Well, it’s safe to say the maternity clothes your mother wore are nothing like maternity wear for the modern & chic mother these days! I have friends that swear they would never wear maternity clothes, but then third trimester comes knocking on their closet door! Knock, Knock!! What’s an expecting mother to do? Why spend money on clothes you’ll only wear once? I don’t want to lose my style with frumpy and boring styles!  Not to worry, we’re here to de-myth misconceptions about maternity clothes!

Not only does PinkBlush design specifically with the expecting mother in mind but the functionality and convenience of our styles allow you to transition from pregnancy to motherhood without skipping a beat or breaking the bank! Recently I asked my girlfriend who is expecting her second child why she didn’t wear maternity clothes, her answer, “Maternity clothes can be expensive and they only last during pregnancy.” So here’s your Ah-Ha moment, one word, MAXIS! I’ve found that maxis can be your all-in-one, go-to for pregnancy. Not only can you wear them for maternity photos and baby showers, but once baby arrives they will keep you feeling gorgeous and provide convenience to nurse in! Bam!

Maternity clothing that you won’t just wear once but even after baby!
