The Big Reveal!

We are quickly approaching our 20 week mark and could not be more excited to finally learn the sex of baby #2! So naturally it’s time to search for the perfect dress to make the big announcement in. With so many beautiful options of maternity dresses it was hard to narrow down my top picks. Here’s my favorite four and why they would be perfect for your upcoming gender reveal!

#1: White Garden 3/4 Sleeve Wrap Maternity/Nursing Maxi Dress

gender reveal 1

Ok, I am loving this maxi for so many reasons. I love the even amount of both blue and pink within the floral accent which is perfect whether it ends up being a boy or girl. The wrap detailing will give any body shape a flattering fit and it’s perfect for transitioning once baby is here making it the perfect nursing dress!

#2: Basic White Chiffon Maternity Dress

gender reveal 2

What I like about this dress is how simple it is. Perfect for warmer climates you will stay cool and comfy and look fabulous. With a tie detail it allows you to adjust the fit to make it more form fitting or flowy. Add a colored sash around the waste to make this a stunning option for your reveal. It can also be worn after baby too!

#3: Mint Green Floral Chiffon Maternity Dress

gender reveal 3

Probably our most favorite maternity dress of all time here at PinkBlush, this dress is just timeless. From the flattering baby doll waste to the elegant floral design and feminine colors, you just can’t go wrong with this option for your announcement.

#4: Aqua Damask Bottom Maternity Maxi Dress

gender reveal 4

This maternity dress just screams FUN! For the more outgoing mom-to-be the bright colors and damask design will surely make a statement! I am in love with the flattering cinched waist line and let me tell you, this dress is so comfortable. Fabulous option!

Well Here We Go…

Screenshot (26)

Knock, Knock… Just a second! Heart races, Knock, Knock… Almost done! Story of my life every time I try to use the restroom as my 2 year old son impatiently waits outside. However, this bathroom break was a bit different, as I walked out of the bathroom our little family’s life changed. My pregnancy test revealed we were expecting, SURPRISE!

I could barely stop crying long enough to facetime my husband, who was currently at work and now hiding in a bathroom stall as I turned the camera around to show a positive pregnancy test! With our son, I was able to wait long enough for him to come home but this time I just couldn’t contain myself, I had to tell him we’d been blessed with another baby!

It’s been almost three years since I was last pregnant and they say you forget about labor but to be honest I forgot how much the first trimester honestly sucks and I guess that is why at first I didn’t think I was pregnant. I remember feeling tired with my son and I had so much ache it was insane! But so far, I can barely keep my eyes open and when I say I feel bloated, let me clarify, I feel like a massive whale. I’ve also have been incredibly hungry, not naturally I thought I was PMSing, wrong!

So now that my nerves have calmed down, I’ve made my doctor’s appointment, which has been quite an adventure in itself, we recently relocated from California to Illinois and having to find a OBGYN out here is so different.  A lot of the practices out here will have you see multiple doctors as they want you to be familiar with each doctor in case your doctor is not on call at the time of your delivery. Which I get but me personally I really felt more comfortable when I knew my doctor that I saw my whole pregnancy was going to deliver my son, so we will see how that goes. When you first find out your expecting the doctor will wait until you are around your 8th week for your first appointment and ultra sound. So I cannot wait to see actually how far along we are and when our due date will be. My son was a summer baby and this time around baby #2 will most likely be a winter baby!

At this stage, even though I am still pretty early along, nothing is fitting like normal. Like I said previously, I am extremely bloated, I feel like I am already showing which is not the case but with this pregnancy I am ready to wear maternity clothes earlier on! So of course, I have already been making purchases from PinkBlush, my go to for everything maternity and beyond! Right now anything flowly to hide the bloating and sleeveless and light weight has been my go to since it’s so humid and hot here in Illinois. I am obsessed with our entire line of summer maternity dresses! I feel like this time around I will be able to dress cuter because I know exactly what works for me and what doesn’t and I know everything will also work for after baby as well! I am currently living in our Yellow Floral Fitted Maternity Dress, such a cute print for summer and I love how the rouche hides my bloated tummy and the length is perfect. Other first trimester must haves that I plan on purchasing soon are Our Basic Hi-Low Dresses and our Solid Cross Back Dresses, they are perfect for that is she or isn’t she stage, you know when you’re not showing yet but hey I am not fat, just pregnant phase!

Stay tuned for my next bump update, I truly feel pregnancy is such an incredible experience and cannot wait to share our journey with you. Keep It Simple: Your Real Essentials From a First Time Mom

Pregnancy can be a world of unknowns especially for a first time mother. I know for me it was. Sometimes to be prepared we over prepare, especially when it’s your first child. I had no idea how much my body would change as well as my style. I am here to share with you what worked for me and what styles I still wear now that my son is two.

Basic Tee’s

I was pregnant the majority of summer, so my go-to’s were basic tops. So easy to style with jeans, shorts or maxi skirts they were my saving grace. At times when getting dressed was the last thing I wanted to do, I would throw on a basic tee with cute wedges, add a statement necklace and evening chic here I came!

Leggings

To this day I still wear my PinkBlush maternity leggings! Probably the most comfortable thing I have ever owned, they allowed me to dress up or down at my own convenience. So transitional!

Maxi Dresses

These will most definitely be your bestie while pregnant. They will never fail when everything else doesn’t fit. The reason I still wear my favorite maternity maxi dress is because it allows me to hide areas that make me feel insecure but also maximize my comfort and still feel beautiful. I have maxi’s that I wore while pregnant that transitioned with me while breastfeeding my son and even now three years later I still wear them.

BreAna

A Supportive bra

Key word SUPPORT, I was so taken aback at how much my bra cup changed while pregnant. I think as a first time mom you expect your body to change but it’s astonishing how much it does. Embrace the changes as your body is beautiful and the outcome is a beautiful healthy baby! My last essential that saved me was my supportive bra.  Comfortable, supportive, and soft. The perfect bra will help with soreness, back aches and sensitivity. I purchased one that was also was made for nursing so I wore it after baby too. Complete game changer!

Believe me dressing while expecting can sometimes be overwhelming but if you purchase staple styles and utilize them throughout your pregnancy, staying stylish is easy to achieve. These essentials ended up being on constant rotation for me. So my advice: Keep it simple and work it, you preggonista!

You’re expecting! Now what?

The longest 2 minutes you’ll probably ever have to wait will be for those two little lines! You’re expecting and over the moon with excitement, well let’s be real, I was excited and nervous all at the same time. If you’re a first time mother you may be thinking of all the things you will need to prepare for, maternity clothes, nursery décor, hospital bag and baby clothes. But the first step which may be the most important, is finding the perfect doctor!

So where to start? First, see if your regular gynecologist practices obstetrics as well. Say she doesn’t or she does but she practices natural births and you would like an epidural or you’d prefer giving birth at a birthing center and she only delivers at a hospital. Overwhelmed yet? Don’t be, we’ve all been there. It’s important to pick a doctor that you feel comfortable with and that fit’s with your birth plan. As a first time mother myself, I found the following tips helpful!

If your gynecologist doesn’t practice obstetrics like mine didn’t, decide whether you would like an OBGYN or a midwife. Don’t know what a midwife is? To be honest I didn’t either, I just knew I wanted to deliver in a hospital and that I wanted a doctor to deliver our son. Birthing plans differ for each mom, I know a few of my girlfriends who delivered with a midwife. A midwife is a trained health professional who helps healthy women during labor, delivery, and after the birth of their babies. Midwives may deliver babies at birthing centers or at home, but most can also deliver babies at a hospital. Whichever the preference be, once you know which type of provider you’d like to have, the next step begins!

For me, my next step was to ask my mom friends about their OBGYN and what their birthing experience was like. It’s always a good idea to get references, I even looked on yelp for local doctors in my area to see which had the best reviews. Once you have a list of possible doctors, if you’d like you can set up consultations which each. During this time, you can ask him or her questions to get more of a feel of their bedside manner and to see who you liked most. I found my OBGYN through my cousin who was due one month before me. I met with him and instantly felt comfortable. He was always available when we had questions or concerns, his c-section rate was really low and he ran a small practice so we knew he would definitely deliver our son. These are all questions you can ask during your consolation! Other ways to find an OBGYN is to call the local hospital in your area, their Labor and Delivery unit can recommend a good obstetrician. It’s recommended to call back a few times until you get the same name from different nurses! All options aside, you’ll want to make sure which ever provider you do decide to go with, they are covered by your insurance, who can also help you find a great OBGYN!

Finding a doctor who will deliver your most precious gift is never easy, but go with your gut. For me the birth of my son was the most incredible experience of my life. My doctor was a major part because I trusted him and felt confident when it came time to deliver my son. Looking back I was so happy with everything and with my choice!

One Dress Three Ways

mintgreen-blog

There’s no doubt that mint is our favorite hues for the spring season. While we love the traditional pastel colors of yellow, pink, and blue, mint is just a little extra ordinary with its soft, yet electric tone. If you’re looking to make your wardrobe stand out this year, then mint is the hue that can make that happen. We love mint so much, we thought we would take one of our most popular maternity dresses for spring and style it three ways, just to show you how amazing this hue (and this dress) is. Check out our one look three ways inspired post:

For a day spent in the city, we styled this mint floral maternity dress with slip on tennis shoes and a stylish pair of sunglasses. Perfect for the suburban mom that is going out for a casual brunch or running errands.  While chiffon is usually reserved for more formal occasions, we like to style it down for casual wear because we think every mom should feel nothing less than beautiful every day.
